Introduction

The 15th International Symposium on Architectural Interchanges in Asia (ISAIA 2026)

The International Symposium on Architectural Interchanges in Asia (ISAIA) is a biennial international symposium jointly organized by the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK), the Architectural Society of China (ASC), and the Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ).

The 15th ISAIA will be hosted by the Architectural Institute of Korea (AIK) and held in 2026. We cordially invite scholars and professionals from academia and industry in the fields of architecture and construction to participate in ISAIA 2026 and submit their research papers.

THEME: Confluence of Architecture in the Age of Super Connectivity

Confluence is a situation in which two things join or come together. It can connect people, things, fields of study, time, and ideas in the age of super connectivity. Nothing great can be accomplished without collaborations, just as great rivers are the results from the merge of numerous small streams. Not only science and technology, but humanities and cultures are being fused in recent architectural space. Sharing knowledge, space, and even cars is becoming the creative commons for all. It is time to discuss and share new ideas crossing over various fields from the perspective of confluence in architecture.

Theme : Architecture in the Expanding Age of AI

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer confined to a single domain but is gradually extending its reach across the built environment. It influences not only how architecture is planned, designed, constructed, and maintained, but also how decisions are made and knowledge is shared. As data, computation, and human insight begin to converge, architecture becomes a field where multiple forms of intelligence interact and evolve together. Much like small streams merging into a larger current, individual technologies and disciplines are increasingly interconnected. In this context, architecture is called upon to mediate, integrate, and give form to these expanding relationships. It is now time to explore how architecture can navigate and shape this emerging landscape of intelligence.
